Monday, March 31, 2014

C. Wonder is having an amazing sale...40% off everything! But hurry, it ends tonight! Here are my picks, I'm obviously drawn to the blue and white items:

Back to Boston

Friday, March 28, 2014

Faneuil Hall
Harvard Yard
Don't forget the lobster roll!
Today I'm heading to Boston for a rather spontaneous trip with some of my best friends. Though we're not going to Boston to see the amazing Justin Timberlake like we did last summer, I can't wait to be in the same city with all of my favorite people.

Houzz

Thursday, March 27, 2014

If I could stalk Houzz all day, I would...but I don't think that would be appreciated at work. It's the home-exclusive version of Pinterest, filled with amazing photography and even better interior design inspiration. The only danger of the website is the links they provide to the products you see in the photos. For instance, I now have to have these pillows. I'm especially loving all the rooms above, all the neutral + brights color combos are perfect...and I may also need a pink couch now.

M'Oticons: Edie Parker x Del Toro

Wednesday, March 26, 2014

When an image of loafers featuring emojis appeared on my Instagram feed, I thought my eyes were deceiving me. They weren't...and these shoes are unreal. It's a special collaboration on Moda Operandi from Edie Parker and Del Toro, with some of my favorite and most-used emoticons and coordinating clutches, complete with a hashtag. While these aren't in my current budget, they are so cheeky and adorable, I wouldn't hate adding this pair to my shoe collection. Would you rock loafers with emojis?

Here are my faves:

Jet Setting: Travel Essentials

With a trip to Boston this weekend and to Florida the next, I've got travel on my mind. Since I get a little obsessive about organization, I like to have all of my travel goodies neatly compartmentalized. I can't live without my Truffle pouches: the petite is TSA-approved (and also my everyday purse companion) and the classic holds everything else in my checked bag. I'll take about 5 more for all my other accessories, please! Now that I've found these adorable travel bags, they'll have to come on my next trip too...totallyyy necessary. Also on the necessities list: a bright travel charger, some travel-sized supplies, and a genius emergency kit, in case I need something random in a pinch!

Bon voyage!

Home Tours + The Everygirl

Success Print - from The Everygirl Shop
I love to scour the internet for home and apartment tours. It's such great inspiration to see how other people have decorated their spaces. There's always something amazing to be found...whether it's a furniture placement I never would have thought of, genius color and pattern combinations, or my favorite decor feature...the gallery wall (I need to add one of these prints to mine, ASAP).

One of my favorite sources for home tours is The Everygirl, a fantastic site for women that's filled with tips on careers, fashion, finance, beauty, and everything in-between. It's a must read. (And it was founded in Chicago!) The have some home tour gems, and along with stunning photography they feature interviews with the subjects, who are always really inspiring, driven, ambitious young women.

This tour is especially good, featuring blogger and U.S. Army Captain Katie del Castillo's D.C. apartment. Not only does she have a great story, but her apartment is fun, bright and adventurous. Her blog, Life With a Dash of Whimsy, is just as cute.

Big Girl Bag

Monday, March 24, 2014

It's time to invest in a big girl bag. I've been carrying this bag (in a variation of colors) since high school, and while it's a classic and the perfect size, it's time for an upgrade! A few of the bags I'm considering require some penny-saving, so I've got some time to decide. Which would you choose?

Monogram It: Gold Jewelry

Friday, March 21, 2014

When in doubt...monogram it.

I have a bit of an obsession with a good monogram, it's so classic and personal...what's not to love? While monogrammed jewelry is definitely trendy right now, it will always be classic. I've long admired my grandmother's timeless gold monogrammed pieces. Special thanks to my mother for considering what my monogram would be while deciding what to name me...genius. I'd love to add some new pieces to my jewelry box, especially this or this.

On another note, I figured out how to incorporate the "pin it" hover button on all of my images (no small feat), so pin away! That crosses off another goal on my 101 in 1001

Goodbye, Winter!

Wednesday, March 19, 2014

Even though it's snowing in Chicago today...It's officially Spring! I'm getting kind of tired of talking about and living with the horrible weather. So, even though it's not quite time to ditch coats and closed-toe shoes, it's definitely time to transition to stripes, dresses, flats and bright colors. Feeling inspired by the images above...I don't think I can ever get enough of navy and white stripes.

Happy Spring!

Hello, ban.do

ban.do
koozie | pom pom | clutch | iphone case | bobbi pins | hair ties | ipad case

I just recently discovered ban.do, an online shop filled with fun, bright accessories. I especially love the tiny details that add a little flair, like the "have fun" zipper pull on the clutch, or the "bottoms up" text on the bottom of the koozie. And the best part? Everything is reasonably priced, all of the above items are $35 or under! This site is a great stop for a cute gift idea. I definitely "need" this charger set

A little music to get through another Monday...

It was a great weekend celebrating St. Pattys with my sister. Plenty of good friends, delicious food, and a birthday brunch! On Saturday we tried a new restaurant that I've been meaning to go to for a while now, Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba (one step closer to accomplishing goal #38!). Incredible Tapas-style food and white-peach sangria...pretty amazing.

Getting Green

St. Patty's in Chicago
Time to celebrate St. Patty's! My sister is coming in for the weekend, as are a few out-of-town friends...it's shaping up to be a fantastic weekend. Here are a few of my favorite green picks, I will definitely be sporting that nail polish!

Make a Statement

Thursday, March 13, 2014

Statement

The right statement piece can take even the most basic outfit to the next level. I'm guilty of quite a few splurges in the name of a "statement".  I tend to gravitate toward more solid color clothing choices, so a great piece of jewelry is just what I need to add a little something more.  I think my favorite may be this Lulu Frost bracelet.

Thinking Spring: Navy and Neutral

Tuesday, March 11, 2014

one | two | three | four | five | six

Chicago got a hint of spring yesterday, with temps actually above 50. It won't last long...it's supposed to snow later today. But, I'm very ready for spring weather and the clothes and accessories that come with it. If only it were closer to being sandal season, I'd love to ditch my boots for any of the shoes above. Especially the more neutral colors: the creams, whites and golds...and, of course, some navy.

Gray Malin Photography

Bryant Park
Cinque Terre
Flatiron
North Bondi Beach
Gray Malin's photography is one of a kind. He is so talented and each shot is taken from such a unique perspective. His new Antarctica collection is beautiful and I can't wait to see the new Australia shots when they premier March 18th. I'd love to add any of his pieces to my gallery wall, especially this shot of Central Park.

Tortured by Sales

Friday, March 7, 2014

Is the definition of torture an amazing sale going on while I'm still in the midst of a no-shop March? No? If I could buy every piece of my home decor from Serena & Lily, I would. So when a 20% sale email appeared in my inbox this morning...I miraculously resisted (so far). Outfitting my whole bed in Serena & Lily is one of my decor goals. While I can't afford to buy all the pieces I want in the same visit, I have been slowly building my collection. A 20% sale is a great opportunity to score a new addition, but it will have to wait until the next sale or birthday.
